Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looking for something that even washes clothes? I only ever really used top-loaders, but we were going off-grid and was looking for something that can wash a serious amount of clothes while using as little water as possible. In the tests that I've found each wash cycle part seems to use about a 10L bucket of water, but admittedly I didn't have the time to wait for the 1:10hr wash time to make sure how many times the bucket overflowed down the drain. All in all, compared with a top-loader, it seems to be using significantly less water, and that's what were were aiming for. We're not big on the features of any of the machines we've had, just used the cotton cycle and jammed the washing machine up to it's capacity for the 5 bods that are in our household make for entertainment for washing machines when it comes to a steady supply of clothes. This machine has a neat ability to set up all your settings and then save them as a favourite for each program type which works really well - except for one thing, it always insists on turning the auto-dose feature on, and no matter how many times I've turned it off, resaved it as the favourite, sure enough, turn it back on again, and it's back on too. This effects things like your ability to use some other features (I'm sorry for the life of me I can't remember what they are right now, but I always remember what they are when I'm at the machine and can't work out why the features aren't enabled). Also, because we like the idea of water saving, but don't have a problem with power, it would be nice if there was a way you could get the eco-mode to work, and the water heating function. Turn on eco, and you're not allowed to adjust the temperature of the water. Actually, turn on eco, and you can't use the UV Sanitise function. It would seem logical, that the ECO function would reduce the water, you can then select the temperature to "no heating" turn UV Sanitise on or off depending on how you like it, and then save that as your favourite. So people can choose...I want ECO friendly on the water or power side of things as they see fit. Aside from these minor complaints the washer itself is good, very quiet while doing it's thing, and exactly what we'd hoped for in terms of dealing with larger wash sizes ok (so long as you're not using the ECO mode). The wash times are a lot longer than I had been used to with previous top-load washers we've used - example being a 7kg Haier top-loader at my parents we also use that does a full load including spin in about 30 odd minutes, but I'd say this front-loader definitely uses less water and that was our main constraint. Our unit seems to make a clunk clunk clunk noise when the drum gets to a certain speed, but it doesn't seem to effect the wash or spin cycles, but I've noticed even empty if I lightly grab the drum and push it in and out (about 1cm) I can get it to make the same noise. I've checked the floor to see if it's level and made sure the machine isn't moving around, but it always seems to do it - otherwise...you'd never know it was on! All-in-all, we think it works well for what we need.
